High-Low

There have been quite a few high points, and thankfully not so many low points this week. Currently I am "on vacation" today and tomorrow, and we are not doing anything out of the ordinary--which I am thankful for. Actually, I take that back (the ordinary part). We have already done something extra-ordinary today. We did laundry--at home! Yep, we picked out and paid for our washer and dryer on Monday, it was delivered yesterday, and today I broke it in with FIVE loads of laundry! I'm thankful for the convenience of doing laundry at home.
Meanwhile, I have been reading anew book, "Simply Christian", by NT Wright, and cleaning the rest of the house.
Other high points of the week include playing Monopoly with Brandon, eating popsicles on the front porch with Katie, walking down to Classico for breakfast today, and meeting some new folks at a Bible Study last night.
Last night I also finished reading "God is the Gospel" by John Piper. I think this may be my favorite book I have read by him. There were so many chapters where he would say something that should be so basic, but it seemed as though the light was really turning on for the first time. I appreciate so much how he points to Christ in innumerable ways in his sermons, books, etc. This book did that, but it was done in such a way that I was left looking at many exposed lies in the face for the first time. Not only that, but I also began to see certain things about God, the gospel, and the Bible with more clarity, understanding, and grattitude. I don't want to give any specifics because I can not say things nearly as well as Piper can, nor do I want to misrepresent him. I also think you should read it for yourself because it is just that good. (Especially if you really want to be encouraged and challenged in your view of the gospel.)
Happy last few days of June!
